Training Videos from the Past: Wendy’s Grill Skills

Videos as a training medium has been around for quite some time. Off late, the usage of videos for training and knowledge sharing has grown exponentially as the ability to record a video has become pervasive and simple. It was amusing to sit through 15 mins of training content from Wendy’s from 1989. The video was targeted at Wendy’s Associates to help them prepare burgers as per Wendy’s cooking method.

It was interesting to note that the company invested money in incorporating some creative ways to deliver the content. They certainly recognized that flipping burgers is not exactly attention grabbing. In addition to Wendy’s founder explaining the importance of making the perfect burger and how Wendy’s product is unique, there was a pop / rap music style instruction delivered to the subject in the video and plenty of dancing around as well! They certainly managed to make the best of what was available as technology then. This was certainly a commendable exercise.
